Didn’t go out at all yesterday… hand/wrists hurting from too much crutching… so I’m just going to listen to my body… it’s very intelligent after all…
instead… I spent many an hour fixing the toilet cistern (see pic). The cistern has been dripping for some time..probably years. Just intermittently… and because the overflow is extended some way from the wall it wasn’t doing any damage… just wasting a little water and making annoying drip noise every now and again. But since Jay asked me about it for about the 100th time… I took the lid off the cistern and sat on the toilet lid trying to sort it (bad leg up on adjacent ottoman stool). I never know exactly what I’m doing when I try to do these things.. I just have a fiddle and hope it works. You keep flushing… wait for it to fill and then twiddle the adjustment screw… this should work if the ballfloat thing is all OK.
I really like simple, effective technology. That’s what the ball valve is. The ball floats up, pushes the screw and shuts off the water…Brill! the humans who invented these things are just brilliant!
OK… I’m just wondering if this whole achilles thing is just someone playing a trick on me. I’ve had next to no pain from it (including when I first did it). Feels like someone has just put my leg in a cast for no good reason at all. When I move my leg in the cast it feels perfectly normal. My toes twiddle just fine. Just a bit of itching near my calf. What’s going on? The lady at Great Dixter house in Sussex (which we visited over Easter) said that having an achilles tendon injury is ‘character building’. I thought my character was already built. Hmmm… maybe it needed re-building….
