Achilles Blog 13 – 31.5.14. The Darth Vader (DV) Boot

This has been another mad day. Mad days on one leg are not ideal. It is possible to make up a super king-size bed for visiting guests with one leg… but you have to sort of crawl all over the bed and knee your way around it to tuck the sheets in… so it rather looks like it has been slept in…. before it has been slept in. But hey… it will be housing 2 students (B and E), so I guess the ‘unmade bed’ feel will mean they might feel right at home..?

Also, today, I got the boot….the Darth Vader S&M (tight straps) brace/boot (see pic)… which progresses from part weight bearing (PWB) to full weight bearing (FWB) over the next month or so. I’ve never been so pleased to see my own leg. Yes, it is skinnier than before (i.e really skinny) and the horrible scar is still there… but hey, I am (gently) using 2 legs – and this feels like progress at last!

Aside from having guests to stay, and seeing the consultant, I played host to a high-level lunch-time Bored Meeting. The members came from as far as Hertfordshire and high finance was discussed and important decisions taken. Seeing my plight, before she left, one long-sighted member kindly washed ALL the lunch dishes for me… with the (clearly labelled) ‘cat-only’ washing-up sponge. So it’s good that the dishwasher is still functioning perfectly….

About aintwegotitmade

Who am I?.......well, I'm getting to that age where I have to think about that before I answer... My name is J, I'm married, and my husband and I live in the great city of London. I started this blog as an update to family and friends when I completely ruptured my Achilles tendon a few years ago (see The first post). I am so fortunate in every possible way...and in all honesty, I'm just using this blog to remind myself... Why is it called Ain't we got it made?: this is a line from one of my favourite songs (Sing Baby Sing - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TtTgtkDLNys). Have I got it made? Well - I've got a roof over my head, running water right into my house, a fully-stocked supermarket round the corner, free and readily available healthcare; and I live with my lovely husband in a great city, in a beautiful country, where I feel safe and secure.... I rest my case. Fact or opinion: I am not an expert on anything… but I can confirm that everything in this blog is either fact or opinion. I hope to post regularly, mostly about things I find uplifting, positive, amusing, optimistic, important..or perhaps just about regular daily life...but I won't bother you too much. Thanks for stopping by... jx
