Achilles Blog 20 – 12.6.14. Lovely St. W’s primary

Love the kids at St. W’s Primary!! I give my time every week to help the year 2s read… and in return they give me…. their genuine sympathy for my gammy leg – which means (un-asked) they hold doors open for me and carry heavy book boxes to the classroom; they also give me their smiles; their delight at seeing me (Hi J!!); their funny voices when they read ‘in character’;Β  they read me the messages in their Father’s Day cards saying ‘thank you for ordering cheap stuff on-line for me, Dad’ or ‘Thank you Dad for being ‘The Monster’ and throwing me up in the air’… AND… I get to see their reading improve hugely over the year….it just isn’t a fair exchange.
After my reading stint yesterday… I decided to fix the bin. Not the bread bin again but the wheelie bin, whose lid is falling off because of a missing plastic bolt (see pics) and if not fixed will cause the bolt at the other side to fail/shear off at some point… I’ve put a bit of varnish on it which may protect it from rust for a little while… I’m only documenting this to prove to myself that I’ve actually done something. I think I’m getting a bit more cabin fever now… Jay impressed that I’ve lasted this long… but I’m very used to my own company. This glorious weather however, makes me want to GET OUT!!!

Now that I can stand on the scales properly… it shows I have actually lost about 1.5kg (3lbs). Jay says I actually look younger… this could be down to my new hair cut…or being more relaxed….or it just may be the Earthing Sheet (see here if interested: http://www.equilibrauk.com/ ). Aside from having next to no pain from my leg (coincidence maybe?)… and clearing some gunk from my lungs one morning, it seemed to have no immediately noticeable effect – so I stopped using it for about a week. The first 2 days afterwards, I woke up feeling really tired… and my sleep is more disturbed… and I’m more sniffly in the morning than I had been while using it….and I think I look more tired, as I did before using the sheet. Also I feel more achy when I wake up but I can’t tell whether that’s just my lop-sided walking from using the boot. I don’t think it’s a placebo effect… (and if it is, why are we designed so that what we believe can heal us?)…. I shall start using the Earthing sheet again and see if I notice any difference…. I’ll monitor my blood pressure too and try and be a bit more scientific…. tho I think it works slowly and subtlely….

About aintwegotitmade

Who am I?.......well, I'm getting to that age where I have to think about that before I answer... My name is J, I'm married, and my husband and I live in the great city of London. I started this blog as an update to family and friends when I completely ruptured my Achilles tendon a few years ago (see The first post). I am so fortunate in every possible way...and in all honesty, I'm just using this blog to remind myself... Why is it called Ain't we got it made?: this is a line from one of my favourite songs (Sing Baby Sing - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TtTgtkDLNys). Have I got it made? Well - I've got a roof over my head, running water right into my house, a fully-stocked supermarket round the corner, free and readily available healthcare; and I live with my lovely husband in a great city, in a beautiful country, where I feel safe and secure.... I rest my case. Fact or opinion: I am not an expert on anything… but I can confirm that everything in this blog is either fact or opinion. I hope to post regularly, mostly about things I find uplifting, positive, amusing, optimistic, important..or perhaps just about regular daily life...but I won't bother you too much. Thanks for stopping by... jx
