Achilles Blog 49 – 9.9.14. A long, running jump

Woke up this morning to the most beautiful California blue sky (see pic) ….but in York!!!! We are having a long weekend here to celebrate our wedding anniversary, walk the city walls and to see the amazing artefacts (pic – Middleham jewel) in the Yorkshire Museum, and although my leg will cope just fine…my right hand is complaining about my daily massaging of the strongest tendon in the body (which I have to grab and bend about)…so now my arm needs someone to massage it……..Jay??

We spent Sunday in Harrogate with (bro-in-law) Marcus and his family (the lovely Sharon and their 3 fab boys)… we sat around the table and looked at the boys’ wonderful artwork…and we talked about our favourite Bonds and Bond films…..You have to see the film about the true life story of a climber who fell and had to cut off his own trapped arm Marcus said… apparently the only thing that saved him was a vision of his yet un-met wife and unborn son – he made a decision to move towards and focus on that future…before slicing off his arm and then (presumably single-handedly) acquiring said family….So…. here’s my vision… it’s autumn, season of mists and mellow fruitfulness… and I take a long, running jump and scrump an apple from one of the overhanging trees round the corner from our house….hopefully all the slicing has already been done on my tendon…

There’s a third person in this marriage of ours. We’ve had (cat) Troy for 18 years. He was mildly bemused when he first heard me clunking along on the crutches but then instantly accepted it. He leaves his fur everywhere; is a messy eater; costs us a fair penny and can open doors but never shuts them.Β  We deserve a greeting like this when we get back home!…..

About aintwegotitmade

Who am I?.......well, I'm getting to that age where I have to think about that before I answer... My name is J, I'm married, and my husband and I live in the great city of London. I started this blog as an update to family and friends when I completely ruptured my Achilles tendon a few years ago (see The first post). I am so fortunate in every possible way...and in all honesty, I'm just using this blog to remind myself... Why is it called Ain't we got it made?: this is a line from one of my favourite songs (Sing Baby Sing - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TtTgtkDLNys). Have I got it made? Well - I've got a roof over my head, running water right into my house, a fully-stocked supermarket round the corner, free and readily available healthcare; and I live with my lovely husband in a great city, in a beautiful country, where I feel safe and secure.... I rest my case. Fact or opinion: I am not an expert on anything… but I can confirm that everything in this blog is either fact or opinion. I hope to post regularly, mostly about things I find uplifting, positive, amusing, optimistic, important..or perhaps just about regular daily life...but I won't bother you too much. Thanks for stopping by... jx
