I have a way to go before I fully trust my leg on the slippery, wet leaves covering all our pavements right now. Now I understand the hesitance of the elderly…it’s a sad and scary thing to lose faith in bits of your body that were once pretty reliable. I know it will take time……patience, j, patience.
A grudging Jay and I did a shorter walk than we expected when we went to the Indigo at the 02 in Greenwich to see the Stylistics (pic). Yes, you heard right…the 1970s soul group is still around (though with only 2 of the original members). On a stroll along Brighton’s pebbly beach with Jay’s family a few weeks ago, I spotted, at some distance, a poster advertising the Stylistics’ up-coming gig in Brighton…a tribute band, surely, I thought as I went over to inspect..but no. The real thing…and they were doing a UK tour including London. I don’t recall being a big fan (my sister says we did have the Greatest Hits album) … but since my blog is named after a lyric from their hit, Sing Baby, Sing…(see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TtTgtkDLNys), I knew I had to go. We sat next to some 20-somethings whose mum played them all the time, they said. I sang my way through to the end, woke Jay up, and we made our way home…
Nobody asked me to make a gold compass for the Wise Men… but now they have one. I had a little plastic compass lying around doing not very much except directing. So. Now the wise men can find their way with a compass set in a lump of ‘gold’ made from Milliput putty. They also have an Astrological Chart made out of wrapping paper (pic). Pretty much all the props are coming out of people’s houses and this whole Christmas Journey production will cost next to nothing, and show to hundreds of school children. Behind the scenes a lot of volunteers are making huge efforts to make this event happen. Our children are unlikely to ever know how lucky they are. They won’t know they’ve got it made. See this video about children living in Honduras, in the 4th most dangerous city in the world – there is no war… but everyday violence and complete lawlessness means they have no education to look forward to, save a visit from a marvellous mobile library:

Who am I?.......well, I'm getting to that age where I have to think about that before I answer...
My name is J, I'm married, and my husband and I live in the great city of London. I started this blog as an update to family and friends when I completely ruptured my Achilles tendon a few years ago (see The first post). I am so fortunate in every possible way...and in all honesty, I'm just using this blog to remind myself...
Why is it called Ain't we got it made?: this is a line from one of my favourite songs (Sing Baby Sing - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TtTgtkDLNys). Have I got it made? Well - I've got a roof over my head, running water right into my house, a fully-stocked supermarket round the corner, free and readily available healthcare; and I live with my lovely husband in a great city, in a beautiful country, where I feel safe and secure.... I rest my case.
Fact or opinion: I am not an expert on anything… but I can confirm that everything in this blog is either fact or opinion.
I hope to post regularly, mostly about things I find uplifting, positive, amusing, optimistic, important..or perhaps just about regular daily life...but I won't bother you too much. Thanks for stopping by...
